Equal in equality, embrace your Culture first to enjoy and learn from the host culture.
At schools, community centers and libraries, children, parents and teachers will have the opportunity to learn more about the keys to peaceful intercultural coexistence through the "Multicultural Educational Campaigns" (MEC) directed by Fernando Figueroa.
The aim of MEC is to bring children and young people, parents and teachers together, connecting with deep respect for different cultures, and develop bridges of understanding of all different ethnicities.
MEC will facilitate these learnings through educational programmes and activities in order to encourage awareness and sensitivity to the realities of immigrant children and young people, by developing greater empathic and respectful attitudes towards foreigners. It will also encourage the learning of immigrants of NZ culture, in order for them to increase their understanding and sense of belonging to their new country.
The exchanges and learning will be done by using different programs, games, talking about migration, video and films, music and dance.
Multicultural Educational Campaigns support the integration and diversity for new schoolchildren from migrant families, which is why it is essential to promote intercultural coexistence with immigrants and refugees in schools to celebrate our multicultural communities.
Children and young people from all ethnic backgrounds will have a lot of fun and will gain valuable, deep understanding of each other.
